In the Mayan language Dzibilchaltun is “The place where it is written in flat stones”, alluding to the numerous commemorative stela found throughout to the site.

Located only 9 mile from the Yucatan state capital of Merida, Dzibilchaltun ruins are a must see for visitors interested in a significant Maya ruins site. According to experts, it is possible that these areas were settled from as early as 500 B.C. to the Spanish conquest around the year 1540 A.C.

It count with a very interesting cultural museum full of Maya and Spanish artifacts including 16th century Spanish swords and weapons, Maya textiles , a typical Mayan houses. This ecological and cultural path will take you to the pyramids, the temple of the Seven  Dolls, call like that because during the excavations the archaeologist finds seven idols, this is where each year on March 21st and September 21st, the equinox gives a show. Also, you will be able to swim in a famous Cenote (underground river) freshwater well, excellent for a cool swim
