In the Mayan language Dzibilchaltun is “The place where it is written in flat stones”, alluding to the numerous commemorative stela found throughout to the site.
Located only 9 mile from the Yucatan state capital of Merida, Dzibilchaltun ruins are a must see for visitors interested in a significant Maya ruins site. According to experts, it is possible that these areas were settled from as early as 500 B.C. to the Spanish conquest around the year 1540 A.C.
